A S I 2006 Structural Engineering Steel Design Award Winner.


A spectacular coal stacker with a 53.5m long boom,13.5 m back span and a 40 m cantilever. Located at the Rollestone coal mine, 20 km west of Rolleston in Central QLD.

This monster in the sky processes 8 million tonne per annum, then stacking coal in 20 metre high stockpiles for later reclaim and transport by rail to Gladstone for export.

Designed and Engineered by Connell Hatch, constructed by Monadelphous,

and fabricated by Gay Constructions for final assembly on site.

This project was entirely designed and fabricated in Australia offering a 20 to 25 per cent cheaper outlay, than offshore proposals.

All engineering design and fabrication for the Rolleston coal handling facility was completed in Brisbane, Qld. Australia
