Condong Co Generation Sugar Mill - Green Energy

  • Client: Techint Semf
  • Price: $1.9 million
  • Location: South Murwillumbah
  • State: NSW

Condong Cogeneration Project is a competitive biomass fuel supply. The project will generate a total of 60 MW using extraction/condensing steam turbine-driven generators, fed by high-pressure boilers and involving associated auxiliary equipment and fuel handling plant. The fuel used is bagasse (a byproduct of the milling process and normally burnt in the fields) and wood, providing NSW with an environmentally friendly power generation solution. Excess electricity, especially during the non-crushing season, will be fed back into the National Grid. The project is expected to eliminate pre-harvest and post-harvest burning of cane in the Tweed Valley and supply 130000 tonnes of trash per year to the Sunshine Energy Condong Cogeneration Project. The project will assist local industry as well as demonstrate to the Australian sugar industry, the most efficient and economic ways to harvest, transport and deliver a secure supply of trash for use as fuel in bio-energy projects.
