Infrastructure
Gay Constructions have been extensively involved in the delivery of major industrial, mining, and infrastructure projects throughout Queensland and other parts of Australia. We can accommodate jobs with steelwork from 15 tonne to 3000 tonnes with extremely acceptable turnaround times. The largest undertaken by our company was the 2,800 tonne Olympic Dam Mine for WMC and more recently the Comalco Aluminium Refinery (Gladstone) for Bechtel was 2500 Tonne.
- Xstrata Rolleston Coal Stacker- Award Winning Design
-
A S I 2006 Structural Engineering Steel Design Award Winner. A spectacular coal stacker with a 53.5m long boom,13.5 m back span and a 40 m cantilever. Located at the Rollestone coal mine, 20 km west of Rolleston in Central QLD. This monster in the sky processes 8 million tonne per annum, then stacking coal in 20 metre high stockpiles for later reclaim and transport by rail to Gladstone for export. Gay Constructions have manufactured numerous conveyor galleries for significant infrastructure projects over the past 50 years. We value add to the fabrication by providing a complete off site assembly solution. This methodology provides an economical solution that effectively enables the conveyors to be erected as soon as they arrive on site.
- Chutes & Plate Fabrication
-
Gay Constructions have extensive experience in the fabrication and welding of chutes and heavy plate work. We value add to the chutes by co-ordinating the installation of the abrasive linings of any type of material, from the industrial plastics to the exotic steels. We also have the expertise to provide automatic welding processes on heavy plate work and for continuous welding methodology. In many instances we have overcome supply chain challenges for our clients by initiating the fabrication of specific Welded Beam and Welded Column sections that are required urgently.
